History
Rainhill Town was formed in 1970 entering the Liverpool C of E youth league. The team finished their first season as runners-up in the Warburton knock out trophy and the following season saw the team finish as runners-up in the Second Division.
Season 1972/3 saw the formation of an open-age team.
In 1976/7 the club joined the Widnes & District Alliance with two teams but left in 1979/80 to join the Warrington & District Football League, the first team winning the Third Division at the first attempt. Within four seasons the first team had risen through the leagues to the Premier Division having won the First Division in style, losing just one game all season.
A Third team was formed in 1980/1 followed by a Fourth team in 1992/3.
1993/4 saw the first team elected to the Liverpool County Combination Division Two. The team acquitted themselves well at this level for a number of seasons but following the retirement of the original committee who had served the club admirably since its inception and the loss of key players, the club suffered a reversal of fortunes. Four teams became two but with perseverance the incoming committee kept the club in existence.
Season 1998/9 saw the First team return to the Warrington League Division Three, gaining promotion at the first attempt. Subsequently they did progress to Division One with a return to the Premier Division as a short-term goal.
The club has continued to grow from strength to strength with the Second team progressing through to the Reserve Division One and season 2003/4 seeing a third team competing in Reserve Division Three
A return to the Premier Division was achieved in season 2005/06 and resulted in us winning it at the first attempt. In 2006/07 Season we achieved a magnificent treble, Premiership League Championship, Jubilee Trophy and for the first time ever the Liverpool County FA Junior Cup.
In the pre season of 2007/08 a decision of the management to take the first team on to a higher footballing level. We merged the team with Fords were entered the Liverpool County FA Premier Division with three teams in the Warrington league. In 2011 this link with Ford Motors was broken and we entered four teams in the Warrington and District League in Premier, Division 1, Division 3 and Division 5.
Also in 2011 we adopted a badge and Latin insignia “Audaces Fortuna Invat ” which translates to Fortune Favours The Brave.
In 2013 we attempted to seek election into the West Cheshire League and were successful entering in the Third Division for season 2013/14 maintaining three teams in the Warrington League in Divisions 1, 2, and 5 after a successful Premiership title,with Jubilee Trophy double and 3 rd Division Championship title. So with four teams plus U18’s and U’11’s we have grown into a very competitive, successful and progressive club and 2013 looked like an exciting season. It was, ending as Champions and League Cup Winners.
2014/15 Season we also saw both the Reserves and 3 rd team come runners up in the Warrington league Division 1 and 2 and the 1 st team won the West Cheshire League Second Division Championship and the Haworth and Gallagher Trophy to complete the double three years on the trot. This meant our first ever entry by achievement into Step 7 the first step on the football league pyramid. 2015/16 season we entered the Reserves team into the third division of the West Cheshire league.What a season of achievement.
Credit should be given to the members past and present who have given their time and effort into making Rainhill Town a successful football club. The future of the club looks bright with a good few talented youngsters coming through to mix with the old hands.

Since our formation in 1970, Rainhill Town FC has grown from the vision and dedication of a group of passionate founder members into a thriving football club at the heart of the local community.
